Digital transformation demands connectivity. Connectivity, if wired, can be cost-prohibitive in a number of situations, thus undermining the entire business case for digital transformation. Until now, the options for wireless connectivity, specifically in mission-critical industries, were limited and hence the slow pace of this infrastructure’s transformation in the United States. This has changed. Exciting new spectrum solutions can now be easily obtained to build and operate private, industrial wireless connectivity solutions in the shared CBRS 3.5GHz and licensed Anterix 900 MHz bands.

In the unlicensed space, the FCC is releasing 1200MHz of 6GHz spectrum that will challenge traditional wired IT infrastructure in bandwidth and installation costs when organizations choose to complement their Private LTE networks with Wifi-6 Mesh networks. These new spectrum options, paired with enhancements in 4G/5G and Wi-Fi solutions, are securely increasing network coverage areas and are paving the way for enhanced Mission Critical Communications (MCC), Narrow Band-IOT (NB-IOT) and massive broadband (MBB) solutions while reducing the number of network nodes and administrative overhead. Mission-critical infrastructure industries in United States such as transportation, utilities, mining and oil & gas can now leverage the above spectrum to develop innovative wireless connectivity solutions which best fit the needs of critical applications in their unique environments.
