The RAS (Rapid Alignment System) extends reliable high-speed connectivity to movable and roving assets within a private wide area wireless network. Engineered to support a wide variety of nomadic applications for the oil & gas, military, and utility markets, the RAS enables real-time M2M communications, SCADA, automation control, high definition video, Wi-Fi, and telephony directly to a vehicle, rig, portable office or other movable asset.
RAS is the first networking system designed to be easily mounted on a movable or roving asset and automatically locate, aim towards, and connect to a base station. When powered-on, the RAS uses beam-forming (with no moving parts) to quickly perform a 360° survey and then self-aligns to the optimal base station. The rapid auto-provisioning (RAP) feature instantly authenticates and then configures all quality of service (QoS) and security settings needed to bring the local network connection online at speeds up to 100 Mbps. If throughput levels drop below a configurable threshold, the RAS automatically repeats the survey and connects to another base station.
This compact RAS system includes Redline’s versatile RDL-3000, a self-aligning antenna and power systems. Rugged housing and industrial grade components can sustain extreme temperature, shock and vibration to ensure years of reliable nomadic operation in unprotected outdoor workspaces.
The RAS Nomadic System operates with RDL-3000 and eLTE-GT base stations and can be installed in sectors with RDL-3000, eLTE-MT and AN-80i.
Full element and provisioning management and software upgrades are available using Redline’s ClearView Management System.
RDL-3000 system products are supplemented by a full line of hardened industrial peripherals.
